The AutoCPC architecture comprises the AUTOCPC program, a configuration file, and the z/OS batch environment. The AUTOCPC program is the primary executable, responsible for parsing JCL parameters, authenticating users, establishing connections with the HMC, executing commands, and logging results. The configuration file stores essential connection details, including the HMC IP address or hostname, port number, user ID, and password.
It also includes logging options. Communication between z/OS and the HMC occurs over TCP/IP. The AUTOCPC program uses a proprietary protocol to interact with the HMC API.
The z/OS batch environment provides the execution context for AutoCPC. JCL is used to submit batch jobs that invoke the AUTOCPC program, specifying the HMC command and any required parameters. The program uses RACF for authentication, verifying user access based on defined profiles.
Access control is managed through RACF profiles, ensuring users only have access to authorized commands. Data transmission is secured using TLS encryption. AutoCPC logs all executed commands, including the user, timestamp, and results, to SMF records for auditing.
The product does not directly support REST or SOAP APIs. The main components are the AUTOCPC program, the configuration file, and the z/OS batch environment. These components communicate via TCP/IP and JCL.
