AUTOMON/BATCH

AUTOMON/BATCH's architecture centers around batch job processing within the z/OS and zVSE/VSEn environments. The main components include the JCL processor, the control card interpreter, and the CICS resource definition interface. The JCL processor submits and manages batch jobs containing control cards.

The control card interpreter parses commands such as DEFINE, ALTER, and DELETE, and validates their syntax. The CICS resource definition interface interacts with CICS resource definition data sets (CSD) to apply changes. Communication between these components occurs through the batch job execution environment.

Data storage relies on mainframe data sets for JCL and CSD. There are no specific network ports or external APIs. Security is provided by the underlying operating system's security features, such as RACF.

Compared to other solutions, AUTOMON/BATCH offers a streamlined, batch-focused approach to resource management, ideal for automated and scheduled tasks. It does not offer real-time monitoring or interactive interfaces. It provides a reliable method for managing CICS resources, improving accuracy and reducing operational risks.
