Columbus Z Reflect

Columbus Z Reflect is designed to redirect print output from VTAM printers to JES spool or other Columbus software. It operates by intercepting print streams based on VTAM LU names, eliminating the need for application modifications. The architecture comprises several key components: the VTAM Listener, which intercepts print data; the Redirection Engine, which determines the new destination; and the Output Formatter, which converts the data if necessary.

These components communicate via internal APIs and message queues. Configuration files, typically stored as datasets on z/OS, define redirection rules. These files specify VTAM LU names, target destinations (JES spool, other printers, or Columbus modules), and any required data transformations.

The VTAM Listener operates on standard VTAM ports. Administration is performed through ISPF panels and z/OS console commands. Security relies on z/OS security mechanisms like RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret.

The software logs all redirection activity, including VTAM LU names and target destinations, for auditing and troubleshooting. Columbus Z Reflect integrates with other Columbus products, such as Columbus View, for enhanced output management. It leverages z/OS security features for access control and auditing.
