LCS

The LCS architecture is composed of two primary components: the Mainframe SMF component and the Windows-based reporting component. The Mainframe component, running on z/OS, is responsible for processing SMF records. This component utilizes SAS and MXG for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).

The ETL process involves reading SMF data, applying business rules, and preparing the data for analysis. The processed data is then stored in a format accessible by the Windows reporting component. The Windows component provides the user interface for report generation, data analysis, and system management.

It retrieves data from the Mainframe component, allowing users to visualize software costs and usage patterns. The communication between the components is primarily file-based, with the Mainframe component generating data files that are then accessed by the Windows component. The Mainframe component is accessed through JCL and SAS code.

The Windows component provides a GUI for user interaction. There are no specific API endpoints or method names. The system uses file-based storage for data transfer and reporting.

The Mainframe component requires access to SMF datasets, and the Windows component requires access to the data files generated by the Mainframe component. The system does not have any specific network port requirements.
