Message

The architecture of Message is designed for high performance and reliability within a z/OS CICS environment. The main components include the Message Processing Module (MPM), the User Authentication Service (UAS), and the Logging and Auditing Subsystem (LAS). The MPM is responsible for handling all message-related operations, including message creation, storage, retrieval, and delivery.

The UAS integrates with CICS security to authenticate users and enforce access controls. The LAS provides comprehensive logging of all message activities, including message content, timestamps, user IDs, and any errors encountered. Communication between components occurs primarily through internal CICS mechanisms and TCP/IP for external connectivity.

Data storage utilizes CICS-managed storage within the CICS region. The system supports a native API, allowing for integration with other CICS applications. The API includes methods such as `send_message(user_id, message_text)` and `receive_message(user_id)`.

Network requirements include TCP/IP connectivity. The system supports user management through CICS security, including user authentication and authorization. Configuration parameters are managed through CICS resource definitions and system initialization parameters.

Monitoring is achieved through CICS monitoring facilities and the LAS logs. Message differs from other messaging solutions by its tight integration with CICS and its focus on secure, in-region communication.
