The architecture of Rocket Journal Manager is centered around three main components: the Journal Archiving Engine, the Restore Manager, and the Audit Log Processor. The Journal Archiving Engine is responsible for archiving IDMS journals. It reads journal data from the active journals and writes it to archive datasets.
The Restore Manager facilitates the restoration of archived journals back into the IDMS environment. It reads data from the archive datasets and writes it back to the active journals. The Audit Log Processor monitors and logs all journal management operations, providing a detailed audit trail.
Communication between these components occurs through z/OS system services and dataset I/O. The Journal Archiving Engine uses z/OS system services for dataset access and data transfer. The Restore Manager also uses z/OS system services to read and write data.
The Audit Log Processor writes audit records to a dedicated log dataset. The product does not expose any REST APIs. The primary interface is a CLI, and configuration parameters are stored in system datasets.
The product uses standard z/OS security features for access control. The product does not provide any APIs.
