The architecture of Rocket NaviGraph comprises three main components: the Data Collector, the Data Server, and the GUI Client. The Data Collector resides on the z/OS system and gathers performance data from TMON agents. It uses a proprietary protocol over TCP/IP to transmit data to the Data Server.
The Data Server, also residing on z/OS, processes and stores the collected data in a relational database. The GUI Client, a Windows-based application, connects to the Data Server via HTTP/HTTPS to retrieve data and provide a user interface for monitoring and analysis. The Data Server exposes RESTful APIs for data retrieval and system management.
These APIs allow for programmatic access to performance metrics and system configuration. The system supports role-based access control (RBAC) for security, with user roles and permissions managed through the GUI Client. Data encryption is supported during transit via HTTPS and at rest within the database.
The system's design emphasizes scalability and high availability, with the ability to handle large volumes of performance data and support multiple concurrent users.
