UTS's architecture was based on the standard UNIX System V model. Key components included the kernel, which managed system resources; the file system, which organized data storage; the shell, which provided the command-line interface; and various utilities. The kernel handled process scheduling, memory management, and device drivers.
The file system used a hierarchical structure, with files and directories organized in a tree-like fashion. Communication between components occurred through system calls and inter-process communication (IPC) mechanisms. UTS used a standard UNIX file system.
There were no specific network ports or requirements beyond those of the underlying z/VM environment. UTS is no longer supported. Consider migrating to a supported operating system.
