The architecture of Workload Analyzer is based on a three-tier model: Client, Server, and Database. The Client is a Windows-based application providing the user interface. The Server component resides on a Windows server and handles data collection, processing, and API requests.
The Database stores job-related data, including job logs, performance metrics, and configuration information. Communication between the Client and Server occurs over TCP/IP. The Server retrieves data from z/OS systems using various protocols, including TCP/IP and potentially vendor-specific APIs for job scheduling products.
The Database uses a proprietary format for data storage, optimized for efficient retrieval of job-related information. The system supports integration with various job scheduling products, such as IBM Workload Scheduler and CA Workload Automation. The Client application connects to the Server using a predefined port.
The Server component is responsible for authenticating users and managing access control. The system's design allows for scalability and high availability through the deployment of multiple Server instances and database replication. The system's architecture allows for centralized monitoring and analysis of batch job runs across multiple z/OS systems and job scheduling products.
