Product Overview

The architecture of CLASY is centered around three primary components: the Archive Manager, the Indexing Service, and the Retrieval Interface. The Archive Manager is responsible for the physical movement of documents from the active OfficeVision/MVS storage to the archive. It interacts with the z/OS file system to store documents in the designated archive locations.

The Indexing Service creates and maintains an index of archived documents. This index is crucial for efficient retrieval, allowing users to quickly locate documents based on various criteria. The Retrieval Interface provides access to archived documents through OfficeVision/MVS.

It integrates with OfficeVision/MVS APIs to allow users to retrieve documents as if they were still in the active system. Communication between these components is primarily through z/OS system services and file I/O operations. The Archive Manager and Indexing Service interact to ensure that the index is updated whenever documents are archived or deleted.

The Retrieval Interface uses the index to locate and retrieve documents from the archive. The system uses standard z/OS datasets for storing both the archived documents and the index. The configuration parameters, such as archive locations and retention policies, are stored in a dedicated configuration file, which is read by all components during system initialization.

The system does not expose any external APIs. The system does not have any network requirements.
