Product Overview
The $avers architecture consists of several key components: the Output Manager, Archive Manager, and Viewer. The Output Manager intercepts JES output and routes it for processing. The Archive Manager handles the storage and retrieval of archived output, supporting various storage options.
The Viewer provides interfaces for accessing and viewing output through TSO, ISPF, and optionally, VCSI. Communication between components occurs via z/OS system services and through the interfaces provided by TSO, ISPF, and VCSI. Data storage utilizes VSAM datasets for active output and supports various archive storage mechanisms.
The system does not expose direct APIs, but integration is achieved through the command-line interface and ISPF panels. Key configuration parameters include dataset definitions, archive locations, and security settings managed through ISPF panels. $avers integrates with RACF for user authentication and access control, ensuring secure access to output.
Unlike some competitors, $avers offers seamless integration with existing z/OS environments and provides robust archiving capabilities.
