Product Overview

The architecture of EView/390z Management is designed for scalability, reliability, and ease of integration. The core components include the EView Agent, Management Server, Data Collector, and Web Console. The EView Agent is installed on the z/OS system and collects performance metrics and system events.

The Management Server acts as the central hub, receiving data from the agents, processing it, and providing the user interface. The Data Collector is responsible for gathering specific data points from the z/OS system. The Web Console provides a graphical interface for monitoring, administration, and reporting.

Communication between the components is primarily over TCP/IP. The EView Agent sends data to the Management Server using a proprietary protocol over TCP/IP. The REST APIs use HTTP/HTTPS for data transfer.

The Management Server stores configuration data and historical performance data in a relational database. The Web Console interacts with the Management Server via HTTP/HTTPS. The system supports high availability through redundant Management Servers and Agents.

The CLI provides command-line access for scripting and automation. The product integrates with HP Operations Manager, Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), and MicroFocus Operations Manager i (OMIi) by using the Management Server as a data source.
