Product Overview
FDRCLONE's architecture comprised several key components. The FDRCLONE control program was the central component, managing the overall restore process. It interacted with the dataset catalog to locate datasets and with z/OS system services to perform the actual restore operations.
The dataset catalog stored metadata about the datasets, including their backup locations. Communication between components occurred through z/OS system calls and control card interfaces. Configuration involved defining datasets for automatic restore using control cards.
The main commands were CLONE, BACKUP, and RESTORE. dataset)`. It did not expose any APIs.
It utilized standard z/OS storage mechanisms. It is not supported; users should consider IBM DFSMSdss, which provides similar functionality. Unlike FDRCLONE, DFSMSdss offers more modern data management capabilities.
It is important to note that FDRCLONE did not offer any built-in security features beyond those provided by the z/OS environment.
