The architecture of HOBLink J-Term comprises several key components. The web server handles client requests and serves the web interface. The emulation engine translates user input into TN3270 commands and renders mainframe output.
The connection manager establishes and maintains connections to the mainframe. These components communicate via HTTP/HTTPS for the web interface and TN3270 for mainframe interaction. Configuration is primarily managed through XML files, allowing for customization of connection parameters, keyboard mappings, and security settings.
User management is handled through a web-based administrative console, enabling administrators to create, modify, and delete user accounts, as well as assign permissions. The product supports various authentication methods, including user ID/password, and offers encryption via SSL/TLS to secure communication.
