Product Overview

IBM Security Guardium's architecture is designed for comprehensive data security and compliance. The main components are the Central Manager, Collectors (S-TAPs), and Aggregator. Collectors are deployed near database servers to capture traffic with minimal latency.

The Aggregator consolidates data for analysis and reporting. The Central Manager provides a single pane of glass for policy management and administration. Collectors communicate with the Aggregator over secure channels, typically using HTTPS.

The Aggregator stores data in a Db2 repository. 509 certificates. It uses role-based access control (RBAC) to manage user permissions.

Common commands include `show report`, `create report`, `export report`, `show policy`, and `install policy`. REST APIs are available for integration, with endpoints like `/restAPI/policy` and `/restAPI/report`. Competing products include Imperva Data Security and McAfee Database Security.

Guardium's architecture allows for scalable deployment and centralized management of data security policies.
