The architecture of ACF/SSP centers around the Network Control Program (NCP) and the utilities that manage it. The main components include: NCPGEN (NCP Generation Utility), LOAD (NCP Load Utility), DUMP (NCP Dump Utility), and ACF/TAP (Trace Analysis Program). NCPGEN takes configuration input to generate the NCP.
The LOAD utility transfers the NCP to the communications controller. The DUMP utility captures NCP storage for analysis. ACF/TAP provides trace analysis capabilities.
Communication between components occurs through z/OS system services and control blocks. ACF/SSP utilizes z/OS datasets for storing NCP configuration and operational data. Network requirements include connectivity to communication controllers and access to z/OS resources.
The NCP is the core of the SNA network, and ACF/SSP provides the tools to manage it effectively.
