The architecture of LRS/MVS Server is centered around providing core services for other LRS products on the z/OS platform. The main components include the Virtual Print System (VPS) core, which handles print job processing; the Message and Control Facility (VMCF) logic, responsible for cross-address space communication; and the PageCenter processing engine, which executes central processing tasks. These components interact through z/OS internal communication mechanisms.
The VPS core receives print jobs and manages their processing. The VMCF logic facilitates communication between different address spaces, enabling seamless interaction between components. PageCenter processing is executed within the server to handle central processing tasks.
Configuration is managed through datasets and control files, which define system parameters and print queue settings. Security is integrated with z/OS security features, such as RACF, for authentication and access control. Monitoring and logging are provided through z/OS system tools, including SMF records and system logs.
The server uses internal z/OS communication mechanisms and potentially TCP/IP for external interactions. There are no direct API endpoints exposed.
