The architecture of Mainstar Fast Table Refresh, now integrated into VCRDB2, centers on efficient dataset-level cloning of DB2 tables and index spaces within the z/OS environment. The main components include the Control Card Processor, the Data Replication Engine, and the Logging and Monitoring Subsystem. The Control Card Processor interprets user-defined control cards, which specify the source and target DB2 objects and operational parameters.
The Data Replication Engine performs the actual cloning operations, utilizing dataset-level replication for enhanced speed. Communication between components occurs through z/OS system services and dataset I/O. The system uses z/OS datasets for storing both source and target data.
There are no exposed APIs. The product does not have any network requirements. The primary interface is the CLI, where commands are executed based on control card specifications.
The system supports efficient data replication within the z/OS environment.
