Product Overview

The architecture of MAXM Reorg/EP for IMS comprises several key components. The Control Card Processor is responsible for parsing JCL and control cards, validating parameters, and preparing the reorganization job. The Reorganization Engine performs the actual reorganization of the IMS database, utilizing optimized algorithms for high-speed processing.

The Reporting Module generates detailed reports on the reorganization process, including statistics on performance, resource utilization, and any errors encountered. Communication between components occurs through JCL job steps and dataset interactions. The Control Card Processor reads control cards and JCL, passing instructions to the Reorganization Engine.

The Reorganization Engine reads input datasets, reorganizes the data, and writes to output datasets. The Reporting Module accesses log files and output datasets to generate reports. Data storage utilizes VSAM datasets for input, output, and temporary storage.

Network requirements are minimal, as the product operates within the z/OS environment. Ports are not directly used, as communication is handled through z/OS system services. Compared to IBM's HD Reorg, MAXM Reorg/EP offers faster processing speeds and more flexible reorganization options.

It does not provide online reorganization capabilities.
