The architecture of MS-COMREG is centered around three primary components: the Region Manager, the Queue Manager, and the Message Router. The Region Manager is responsible for allocating and managing communication regions, which are memory areas used for data exchange. The Queue Manager handles the creation, management, and monitoring of message queues, ensuring data integrity and order.
The Message Router directs messages to the appropriate destinations based on predefined routing rules. These components communicate through internal system calls and shared memory. Data is stored in memory within the communication regions and message queues.
Network communication utilizes TCP/IP, with configurable port settings for each region. The system uses configuration files to store region and queue definitions. The `DEFINE REGION` command is used to set up communication regions, specifying parameters such as region size and access permissions.
The `CREATE QUEUE` command defines message queues, setting limits on message size and queue depth. The `SEND MESSAGE` and `RECEIVE MESSAGE` commands are used for data transfer. Monitoring is achieved through the `STATUS REGION` and `STATUS QUEUE` commands, which provide real-time information on region and queue status.
Detailed logging is available through system logs, capturing events and errors for auditing and troubleshooting.
