Optimize IDMS

The architecture of Optimize IDMS is centered around a set of utilities designed to operate within the z/OS environment. The main components include EZ-Reorg, EZ-RSTU, EZ-Image, EZ-Synchro, EZ-Share, EZ-XMVS, EZ-SoftQuiescePoint, EZ-Test, EZ-Sequential, and EZ-Megabuf. These components are primarily invoked through JCL (Job Control Language) jobs.

Communication between components occurs through shared datasets and control files. For instance, EZ-Reorg might use a temporary VSAM dataset for sorting data during reorganization. The primary storage mechanism is the CA IDMS database itself, along with VSAM datasets for temporary storage and control files.

There are no specific network ports required as the utilities operate within the z/OS environment. The administrative interface is primarily through JCL control cards and system console commands. User management is handled through the z/OS security system, such as RACF or Top Secret, which controls access to datasets and system resources.

Configuration parameters are defined within the JCL and control cards specific to each utility. Monitoring and logging capabilities are provided through the output of the JCL jobs and system logs. The product does not expose APIs.

It integrates with the z/OS environment through batch processing.
