Product Overview
The architecture of Passport Web to Host comprises three main components: the Web Server, the Session Manager, and the Host Connection Manager. The Web Server handles user interface rendering and client interactions via HTTP/HTTPS. The Session Manager manages user sessions, terminal emulation, and communication with the Host Connection Manager.
The Host Connection Manager establishes and maintains connections to the host systems using protocols like TN3270, TN5250, and VT. The Web Server uses a Java-based framework for handling client requests and responses. The Session Manager uses a stateful model to track user sessions and terminal data.
The Host Connection Manager uses socket connections to communicate with the host systems. Data is stored in memory during active sessions, and configuration data is stored in files on the server. The administrative console provides centralized management and configuration of all components.
REST APIs are available for programmatic control of terminal sessions, including starting, stopping, and sending commands. For example, to send a command, use the POST method on the `/sessions/{session_id}/send` endpoint.
