The architecture of Enterprise Data Replicator (EDR) is centered around the Replication Engine and Communication Server. The Replication Engine captures and transforms data changes from the source Db2 database. The Communication Server manages the data transfer process, supporting both TCP/IP and MQ protocols.
EDR's Open Architecture Replication (OAR/DB2) feature automatically detects database changes and replicates them across a Parallel Sysplex. The system utilizes configuration files to define replication parameters, data mappings, and network settings. Data is stored temporarily in memory and on disk during the replication process.
The Replication Engine interacts with Db2's logging and recovery mechanisms to ensure data integrity. Network requirements include proper configuration of TCP/IP or MQ, depending on the chosen transport. The system is designed to minimize impact on database performance.
Monitoring tools provide insights into replication status, performance metrics, and error conditions. The architecture supports high-volume data replication, ensuring data consistency and availability across distributed Db2 instances. The system's design prioritizes reliability, scalability, and ease of management.
