The architecture of PHX-KeyPlus is centered around a modular design, comprising several key components. The user interface, a 3270 terminal emulator, provides the primary interaction point for users. The data access module handles the retrieval and modification of data within datasets, supporting various formats such as sequential files, PDS, and VSAM datasets.
The command processor interprets user commands, validates syntax, and coordinates operations between the user interface and the data access module. The configuration manager stores and manages user preferences and system settings. Communication between components occurs through internal z/OS system calls and data structures.
Security is managed through RACF, which provides role-based access control. Audit logging is integrated with z/OS facilities, capturing all user actions. The system does not expose external APIs.
The BROWSE, EDIT, FIND, and REPLACE commands are core functionalities. The configuration files store settings such as default dataset names and editor preferences. The data access module interacts directly with the z/OS file system to read and write data.
