PHX/ODE

The architecture of PHX/ODE is designed for high performance and reliability within mainframe environments. The core components include the Online Data Entry Manager, Data Entry Screens, Data Validation Modules, and the Communication Interface. The Online Data Entry Manager acts as the central control unit, managing user sessions and coordinating data entry processes.

Data Entry Screens are defined using Screen Definition Files, which specify the layout and format of the data entry forms. Data Validation Modules implement real-time validation rules, ensuring data accuracy. These modules are configured using Data Validation Rule Files, which define the criteria for each field.

The Communication Interface handles data transmission using VTAM or CICS protocols, ensuring secure and reliable communication with user terminals. Data storage and retrieval are handled through interfaces with VSAM, DB2, and other mainframe data storage solutions. The system supports authentication via the underlying VTAM or CICS security mechanisms, which can be configured to use role-based access control (RBAC) or other access control models.

Audit logging is provided through the CICS or VTAM logging mechanisms, allowing for detailed tracking of user activities and data changes. The system's design prioritizes efficient resource utilization and minimal impact on mainframe performance. The modular architecture allows for easy customization and integration with other mainframe applications.
