The architecture of SAA AD/Cycle Prolog for MVS and VM comprised several key components. The `PROLOGC` compiler translated Prolog source code into an intermediate representation. The runtime system managed program execution, including memory management and garbage collection.
The inference engine was responsible for performing logical deductions based on the rules and facts defined in the program. Communication between components occurred through system calls and shared memory within the MVS or VM environment. Data storage utilized the underlying file systems available on MVS and VM.
There were no specific network ports or protocols used by the Prolog system itself, as it operated within the mainframe environment. The system's primary interface was the command-line interface (CLI) accessible through TSO/E or CMS. User management relied on the underlying MVS or VM security mechanisms, such as RACF.
Configuration parameters were set through environment variables and system configuration files. Monitoring capabilities were limited, primarily relying on system logs and debugging tools. The product is no longer supported.
