SELCOPY

The SELCOPY architecture is centered around a batch processing model. The main components include the SELCOPY execution module, the control statement parser, and the dataset access routines. The SELCOPY module is the core program that executes the specified operations.

The control statement parser interprets the JCL and control statements provided by the user, determining the actions to be performed. The dataset access routines handle the interaction with various dataset types, including VSAM, ADABAS, DB2, and sequential datasets. Communication between these components occurs through internal program calls and data structures.

Data is read from input datasets (SYSUT1) and written to output datasets (SYSUT2), as defined in the JCL. SELCOPY does not use any external databases or storage mechanisms beyond the datasets it processes. There are no specific network requirements or port dependencies, as SELCOPY operates within the z/OS, z/VM, or zVSE/VSEn environment.
