Product Overview

The SNAsim architecture comprises several key components: the Session Manager, Data Generator, Protocol Analyzer, and Configuration Manager. The Session Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining SNA sessions, handling session initiation, termination, and state management. The Data Generator creates and transmits test data, allowing users to simulate various data exchange scenarios.

The Protocol Analyzer captures and decodes SNA traffic, providing detailed insights into the communication flow. The Configuration Manager handles the loading, parsing, and management of configuration files, which define the test scenarios, session parameters, and data exchange sequences. Communication between these components occurs over internal processes.

SNAsim does not use a database for persistent storage; instead, it relies on configuration files and in-memory data structures. The tool communicates over TCP/IP, with configurable port settings for both inbound and outbound connections. The command-line interface provides access to the core functionalities, including `CONFIG`, `SEND`, `RECEIVE`, and `DISPLAY`.

The `CONFIG` command is used to load and manage configuration files. The `SEND` command transmits data to the simulated host. The `RECEIVE` command captures the responses.

The `DISPLAY` command shows the current session status and captured data. SNAsim does not expose a REST API. It supports integration through scripting languages that can execute command-line commands.
