The architecture of DATASET Explorer consisted of several key components. The data collector was responsible for reading and parsing SMF Type 14, 15, and 64 records. The processing engine performed calculations and analysis on the collected data.
The reporting module generated reports in various formats, including tabular and graphical representations. The CLI provided the primary interface for interacting with the system. Users could submit JCL jobs to execute commands such as `COLLECT`, `ANALYZE`, and `REPORT`.
Configuration parameters were stored in configuration files, which were referenced in the JCL. The system did not expose any APIs. Communication between components was primarily through internal z/OS mechanisms.
The product is not supported. Consider BMC AMI Ops Monitor for z/OS for a similar architecture.
