Adabas Parallel Services

The architecture of Adabas Parallel Services (APS) is designed to maximize the performance of Adabas databases through parallel processing. The core components include the APS Manager, Adabas Nuclei, and the Communication Layer. The APS Manager is the central control point, responsible for starting, stopping, and monitoring the Adabas Nuclei.

It also manages the distribution of workloads across the Nuclei. The Adabas Nuclei are the parallel processing units that execute database operations concurrently. The Communication Layer facilitates inter-process communication between the Nuclei, ensuring efficient data exchange and coordination.

Configuration involves defining the number of Nuclei, their resource allocation, and communication parameters in configuration files. APS integrates with Adabas by utilizing the existing Adabas infrastructure. The system leverages the Adabas security features for authentication and access control.

Monitoring and logging are provided through Adabas utilities and system logs. APS supports z/OS and zVSE/VSEn platforms. The design allows for scalability by adding more Nuclei to handle increasing workloads.
