ADABAS

The ADABAS architecture comprises several key components. The ADABAS nucleus is the central processing unit, managing all database operations. Data storage utilizes an inverted list structure for efficient data retrieval.

The command processor interprets and executes user commands, while the user interface provides access to the database. Communication between components is managed internally. The system uses a native API for direct access and integration.

For data loading, the `ADALOD` command is used with the syntax `ADALOD LOAD=filename, FILE=file_number`. Reporting is handled by `ADAREP` with the syntax `ADAREP REPORT=report_name, FILE=file_number`. Backup operations use `ADABCK BACKUP FILE=file_number`.

Security is managed through user IDs and passwords. Encryption is available for data at rest and in transit. The system utilizes a command-line interface (CLI) for administrative tasks.

Monitoring and logging capabilities include performance metrics and audit trails. ADABAS differs from relational databases in its data structure and performance characteristics.
