The architecture of Access Manager for IMS is centered around three primary components: the IMS Connect client, the Access Manager for IMS server, and the Oracle database server. The IMS Connect client acts as the interface between the IMS application and the Access Manager for IMS server. This client handles the initial communication and request formatting.
The Access Manager for IMS server is the core component, responsible for translating IMS requests into Oracle database queries and managing the data transfer. It processes SQL statements (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE) received from the IMS Connect client. The server communicates with the Oracle database server using Oracle Net Services.
The Oracle database server stores and manages the data. Communication between the IMS Connect client and the Access Manager for IMS server occurs over TCP/IP. The Access Manager for IMS server uses Oracle Net Services to communicate with the Oracle database.
Configuration involves JCL for defining the server environment, and configuration files that specify database connection details, security settings, and data mapping. Security is implemented through RACF integration, enabling role-based access control (RBAC). Encryption is supported for data transmission and storage.
Monitoring and logging capabilities are provided to track system performance, database operations, and security events. The product's design prioritizes efficient data access and seamless integration between IMS and Oracle environments.
