Product Overview

The architecture of Ab Initio BRE is centered around three primary components: the Rule Engine, the Enterprise Meta Environment (EME), and the Co>Operating System. The Rule Engine is responsible for executing business rules. It interprets and applies rules based on predefined conditions and actions.

The EME serves as a central repository for storing, managing, and versioning business rules. It provides a metadata-driven environment for rule governance, ensuring consistency and traceability. The Co>Operating System provides the runtime environment for applications built using Ab Initio BRE.

It handles the execution of rules and integration with other systems. Communication between these components is facilitated through internal APIs and data exchange mechanisms. The Rule Engine interacts with the EME to retrieve rule definitions and with the Co>Operating System to execute the rules.

The EME stores rules in a structured format, often using a relational database or other storage mechanisms. The system supports various databases for data storage, including Oracle and others. Network requirements include connectivity between the Rule Engine, EME, and any external data sources or systems.

The system typically requires specific ports to be open for communication. User management is handled through the administrative interface, which allows for the definition of roles and permissions. RBAC is used to control access to system resources and functionalities.

Encryption is used for data at rest and in transit, ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information. Detailed logging and monitoring capabilities are available to track rule execution, system performance, and security events. The system provides comprehensive audit trails for compliance and governance purposes.

The system is designed to improve business agility, reduce operational costs, and enhance decision-making processes. It offers robust security features, including RBAC and encryption, to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance.
