The Solve:Netmail architecture is composed of several key components. The Message Handler is responsible for interpreting and executing user commands. The VSAM Data Store provides persistent storage for email messages.
User interaction occurs through TSO/ISPF or batch jobs, using commands such as `SEND`, `RECEIVE`, `LIST`, `DELETE`, and `REPLY`. Configuration is managed through datasets and control files, which define user profiles, message storage locations, and system parameters. There are no external APIs.
Security relies on z/OS user authentication. The system does not support modern email protocols like SMTP or IMAP. The primary storage mechanism is VSAM datasets.
The system's design is tightly coupled with the z/OS environment. The product is no longer supported, and no further development is planned. Migration to a modern email solution is recommended.
