Product Overview
The architecture of CA VISION:Results consists of several key components. The compiler translates the source code into executable modules. The runtime engine executes the compiled code, managing data retrieval, formatting, and output.
Data access modules provide connectivity to various data sources, including DB2, IMS, CA IDMS, and VSAM. These modules handle the specific protocols and data formats required to interact with each data source. The system uses configuration files to define data sources, report layouts, and other operational parameters.
Communication between components is primarily internal to the mainframe environment, utilizing established mainframe communication protocols. Data is stored within the connected databases (DB2, IMS, CA IDMS) and VSAM files. There are no external ports or network requirements beyond the standard mainframe connectivity.
