Product Overview
The architecture of Tivoli Disaster Recovery Manager (TDRM) on z/OS comprised several key components. The TDRM server acted as the central management point, coordinating backup and recovery operations. It communicated with the Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) server, which stored the backup data.
Communication between these components occurred over TCP/IP. The TDRM server used control files for configuration, defining backup policies, storage locations, and schedules. The CLI provided the interface for administrative tasks, including commands like `BACKUP`, `RECOVER`, `QUERY`, and `DELETE`.
Authentication was handled through RACF. TDRM did not expose any APIs. TDRM is not supported.
IBM Spectrum Protect offers a more modern and feature-rich architecture.
