Share Your ExperienceTivoli Discovery Library Adapter for z/VM
Product Overview
The architecture of the Tivoli Discovery Library Adapter for z/VM comprises several key components. The Discovery Agent, residing on the z/VM system, is responsible for collecting data about hardware, virtual machines, and network configurations. The Data Collector processes the data gathered by the Discovery Agent.
A database stores the discovered information, enabling reporting and analysis. Communication between the Discovery Agent and the Data Collector occurs over TCP/IP. The Discovery Agent uses a proprietary API to interact with the z/VM system.
Configuration files define the scope and frequency of discovery tasks. The adapter integrates with other Tivoli products, such as Tivoli Application Dependency Discovery Manager, through data exchange and shared data models. The adapter does not expose a REST API.
The primary administrative interface is the command-line interface (CLI). The adapter supports a basic form of user management through the z/VM system. The product is no longer supported, and alternative solutions should be considered for ongoing infrastructure management and discovery.
