TSF Tape Manager

The architecture of TSF Tape Manager is centered around several key components designed for efficient tape resource management. The Tape Manager Engine is the core of the system, responsible for processing commands, managing tape drives, and interacting with the z/OS operating system. The Configuration Manager allows administrators to define and manage system settings, including tape drive allocation policies, dataset retention rules, and alert thresholds.

The Reporting Module provides detailed reports on tape usage, performance metrics, and system events. The Alerting System monitors the system for potential issues and notifies administrators of critical events. The Security Manager handles authentication and authorization, ensuring secure access to tape resources.

Communication between components occurs through internal APIs and z/OS system calls. The system uses RACF for authentication and access control. The CLI provides a primary interface for administration and monitoring.

The system does not require any special hardware.
