The architecture of VMFPLC2 is designed to efficiently restore backups created by the z/VM CMS VMFPLC2 utility to the z/OS platform. The main components include the Restoration Process, Data Transfer Module, and Logging Component. The Restoration Process is the core of the system, managing the overall restoration workflow.
It coordinates the reading of data from the backup file, the transfer of data, and the writing of data to the target dataset. The Data Transfer Module is responsible for the actual data transfer operations. It reads data from the backup file and writes it to the target dataset, handling data integrity and error conditions.
The Logging Component records all operations and errors, providing detailed information for monitoring and troubleshooting. Communication between these components is managed internally, with data flowing through the z/OS system. Data is stored in z/OS datasets.
The primary interface is the `RESTORE` command, which allows users to specify the input backup file and the output dataset. DATASET)`. Configuration involves setting up JCL to define the necessary datasets and file allocations.
Security relies on z/OS access controls, ensuring that only authorized users can access and restore the data. Monitoring is achieved through job logs, which provide detailed information about the restoration process. There are no external APIs.
