Product Overview

The architecture of BMC AMI Ops Monitoring for z/OS is designed for high availability and scalability within the z/OS environment. The core components include the MainView address space, which collects and processes data from the z/OS system; the Data Server, which stores and manages the collected data; and the user interface, which provides access to the monitoring data and allows users to configure the system. The MainView address space runs as a started task within z/OS, collecting data through various system interfaces and APIs.

The Data Server can be deployed on the same LPAR or a separate system, providing a centralized repository for monitoring data. Communication between the MainView address space and the Data Server occurs over TCP/IP, ensuring reliable data transfer. The user interface, accessible via GUI, CLI, and web console, connects to the Data Server to retrieve and display monitoring information.

The system utilizes various databases or storage mechanisms for storing historical data and configuration settings. These may include VSAM datasets and relational databases. The product supports integration with external SIEM systems for security monitoring.

Network requirements include TCP/IP connectivity between the MainView address space, the Data Server, and the user interface. The system supports high availability configurations, with redundant components and failover mechanisms to ensure continuous monitoring. The architecture is designed to handle large volumes of data and support a large number of monitored resources.

The command `VIEW SYSPLEX` can be used to view the status of a sysplex.
