Product Overview
The architecture of CA PMA/Chargeback is centered around several key components that work together to provide comprehensive chargeback and usage accounting. The Data Collection component is responsible for gathering resource usage data, typically from SMF records and other system sources. This data is then processed by the Rate Calculation Engine, which applies predefined rates to calculate the costs associated with resource consumption.
The Reporting Engine generates various reports, including chargeback reports, usage summaries, and cost analysis reports. The system utilizes a relational database to store chargeback data, rate information, and configuration settings. The primary administrative interface is through JCL and system utilities.
Security is managed through the underlying z/OS or zVSE/VSEn security system, such as RACF, which provides authentication and access control. The communication between components is primarily through batch processing and data transfer within the mainframe environment. The system does not expose external APIs.
The architecture is designed for high performance and scalability within the mainframe environment, ensuring efficient processing of large volumes of data.
