Product Overview

The DBSTATS architecture comprises three main components: the Data Collector, the Analysis Engine, and the Reporting Module. The Data Collector resides within the z/OS environment and interacts with the CA IDMS system to gather performance metrics. It collects data on CPU utilization, I/O rates, database access times, and other relevant performance indicators.

The Analysis Engine processes the data collected by the Data Collector. It performs calculations, identifies performance bottlenecks, and generates performance insights. The Reporting Module generates various reports based on the processed data.

These reports include performance summaries, resource utilization reports, and error analysis reports. Communication between the components occurs through internal z/OS mechanisms, ensuring efficient data transfer and minimal overhead. DBSTATS utilizes VSAM for data storage, providing a reliable and efficient storage mechanism for performance data.

The system's design allows for scalability and efficient data processing, ensuring that it can handle large volumes of performance data without impacting system performance. The command-line interface (CLI) provides a robust and flexible way to manage and configure the system, allowing administrators to tailor the monitoring process to their specific needs. The CLI supports commands such as `START DBSTATS`, `STOP DBSTATS`, `DISPLAY STATS`, and `GENERATE REPORT`, providing comprehensive control over the monitoring process.
