Product Overview
DELTAMON's architecture comprised three main components: the Monitor, the Logger, and the Reporting Engine. The Monitor utilized z/OS system services to detect changes to program libraries, system parameters, and hardware configurations. The Logger recorded these changes, storing event data in a proprietary format.
The Reporting Engine provided commands to display and filter change data. Communication between components was primarily through internal z/OS mechanisms. Configuration was managed through control files that defined the resources to be monitored, alert thresholds, and reporting options.
The product integrated with RACF for authentication and access control. The primary interface was a command-line interface (CLI). The `START DELTAMON` command initiated monitoring, while `STOP DELTAMON` halted it.
The `DISPLAY` command was used to view change reports. The product's lack of support necessitates migration to a supported solution.
