The architecture of DirMaint is centered around the z/VM Control Program (CP). The main components include the CP itself, the system directory, and the DirMaint command processor. The CP provides the command-line interface through which administrators interact with DirMaint.
The system directory stores user profiles and system resource definitions. The DirMaint command processor interprets and executes the commands entered by the administrator. Communication between these components is primarily internal to the z/VM system.
DirMaint does not use external APIs or protocols. The system directory is stored as a set of files managed by z/VM. There are no specific network ports or external databases used by DirMaint.
Security is handled through the z/VM CP's privilege classes and user IDs' authority. Audit logging is provided by the z/VM system logging facilities. The system does not support external APIs or protocols beyond the CP interface.
The primary function is to provide a reliable method for managing user accounts and system resources.
