Product Overview
The Dorana architecture consisted of several key components. The Dorana Agent, installed on each z/OS system, was responsible for discovering installed software. This agent scanned the system, identifying software products and collecting usage data.
The central reporting component, typically running on a separate z/OS instance, received data from the agents and processed it. Communication between the agent and the reporting component used standard z/OS protocols, such as TCP/IP. Data was stored in a database, though the specific database technology is not available.
The system used JCL and configuration files for setup and operation. The API provided methods for data retrieval and system interaction. Dorana is no longer supported; users should migrate to a supported alternative like Tivoli Asset Discovery for z/OS.
