Product Overview

The architecture of IPCP/MVS is centered around its core component, the IPCP program, which is executed via JCL within the z/OS environment. The program interacts with CICS through the file control interface. The primary components include: 1.

**IPCP Program:** The main executable that processes the commands. 2. **JCL (Job Control Language):** Used to invoke the IPCP program and specify the file operations and parameters.

3. **CICS File Control Interface:** The interface through which IPCP/MVS interacts with CICS to perform file operations. Communication between these components is internal to the z/OS system, without the use of network protocols.

The IPCP program reads control cards from the JCL to determine the actions to perform, such as OPEN or CLOSE. There are no separate configuration files. Security is managed by z/OS security products, such as RACF, which control access to the datasets and the IPCP/MVS program.

The system does not use any databases or storage mechanisms beyond the z/OS file system. There are no specific ports or network requirements, as all operations occur within the z/OS environment. The primary function is to provide a batch interface for CICS file management, allowing for automated file operations and database management tasks.
