The architecture of Fast Path Restart Control Facility was centered around ensuring the integrity of IMS DEDB databases during emergency restarts. The main components included the Restart Manager, the Database Integrity Checker, and the Logging and Recovery modules. The Restart Manager was responsible for coordinating the restart process, while the Database Integrity Checker verified the consistency of the database.
The Logging and Recovery modules managed the logging of database transactions and facilitated the recovery process. Communication between these components occurred through z/OS system services and IMS internal interfaces. The facility used IMS control blocks for configuration.
The product did not expose any external APIs. The facility is no longer supported and has been integrated into the Fast Path Enhanced Online Suite. The Fast Path Enhanced Online Suite provides similar architectural components and is the recommended replacement.
