DQL

The DQL architecture comprises several key components designed for efficient data processing on z/OS. The DQL Query Engine is responsible for parsing and executing SQL-like queries against VSAM and non-VSAM datasets. The Report Generator transforms query results into formatted reports, supporting various output formats.

The Dataset Access Module handles the low-level interaction with datasets, ensuring data integrity and efficient retrieval. The ISPF Panel Interface provides a user-friendly interface for query creation, report generation, and system configuration. Communication between components is primarily internal, with the ISPF interface acting as the primary point of interaction for users.

DQL leverages z/OS security features, including RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret for authentication and access control. Data storage relies on the underlying z/OS file system, which supports VSAM and non-VSAM datasets. There are no specific network ports required for DQL's core functionality, as it operates within the z/OS environment.
