DTSUTIL

The architecture of DTSUTIL is centered around three key modules: RECEIVE, EXTRACT, and CREATE. The RECEIVE module is responsible for reading data from z/VSE ICCF backup tapes. This module interacts with the z/OS tape management system to access the backup data.

The EXTRACT module performs data format conversion, translating the data from the z/VSE format to a format compatible with z/OS datasets. This module handles various data formats, including fixed-block and variable-block formats. The CREATE module then generates the target datasets on z/OS, using the converted data.

Communication between these components is managed through JCL and control cards. Data is stored on z/OS datasets, utilizing standard z/OS storage mechanisms such as VSAM or sequential datasets. There are no external APIs.

DTSUTIL uses standard z/OS utilities for tape I/O and dataset operations. , space allocation, record length), and data format specifications.
