Product Overview

The FLEX-ES architecture is designed to emulate the System z mainframe environment on UNIX and Windows platforms. The core component is the System Emulator, which replicates the behavior of the mainframe hardware, including the CPU, memory, and I/O subsystems. Channel Adapters provide connectivity to mainframe peripherals, allowing for the integration of existing hardware.

The I/O Subsystem emulates the mainframe's I/O devices and channels. The Console Interface provides a means of interacting with the emulated mainframe, allowing for system control and monitoring. Communication between components is managed internally within the FLEX-ES environment.

Network communication utilizes TCP/IP for connectivity. The system uses the host operating system's file system for storage. The CLI is used for system administration and configuration.

Authentication is handled through the host OS's user management. Key configuration parameters include CPU and memory allocation, network settings, and device mappings. The `config` command is used to configure the system.

The `start` and `stop` commands are used to control the emulated mainframe. FLEX-ES provides logging capabilities for auditing and troubleshooting. Compared to other solutions, FLEX-ES offers a complete emulation of the mainframe environment, including optional channel adapters.

FLEX-ES does not require proprietary hardware or software.
